Putnam Townhouse Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

A gut renovation and expansion of an 1882 two-story townhouse for a photographer. The program divides the house into upstairs living quarters and a downstairs office level, with a new extension creating a dining patio off the parlor kitchen and providing ample workspace on the ground floor. The project features a cast-in-place concrete rear stair, living room bench, and kitchen island; a pigmented rammed-earth wall; and enlarged concrete openings in the rear brick façade. New configurations and finishes throughout include vintage marble countertops, fumed oak floors, onyx bathroom tile, and hand-plastered wall surfaces.
